! NEW RALLY INFORMATION PAGE !

I would like to take a moment to introduce a new feature to the Outbackers.com community that I think will be a great resource for everybody. We have created a new dedicated Rally Information page that includes all the important information you will need when it comes to Outbacker rallies.

The rally threads that appear on the home page are certainly helpful, but are difficult to manage, and often times important upcoming events get pushed down the list just because of when they were originally posted. The new rally page will always be in the same place, and always be easily accessible from the Site Navigation pane on the home page...

Posted Image

Front and center of the new Rally Information page, is great new map developed by H2oSprayer, that quickly shows the locations of all upcoming rallies. As the map is Google based, it offers some great features! If you want more information on a specific rally, simply click on the campfire icon, and an information balloon will pop up that provides a wealth of info and capabilities...

Posted Image

Here you will find dates and locations, as well as links to both the appropriate Outbackers thread and to the campgrounds home page. Another great feature is the ability to generate driving directions to get there! How cool is that? Speaking of cool - and I really love this one! - if you click the [Sat] button in the upper right corner of the map, the view will switch to a Google Earth photographic image, and you can zoom right down to your campsite and see all there is to do in and around the campground!

Fear not Alaskan and Canadian Outbackers, we have not forgotten you. The map can also be panned by dragging across it, and will include any rallies in your neighborhood as well.

Finally, below the map, is a chronologically sorted listing of all the upcoming rallies, the soonest listed first. This list is also hyperlinked to the appropriate rally thread.

I would like to take a moment to extend a very special thanks to Chris (H2oSprayer) for the great idea and all the work he has put into this resource. This is something that we will all benefit from, and you deserve a big high five from all of us. Well done!

Happy Trails,
Doug

2010 - 4Th Annual Illinois Spring Roll Out Rally

User is online

- 11-09-09 14:41 - 13 comments

It's that time of the year again; the Outback has been safely stowed away at the fairgrounds and all we have left to do is dream about our first camping trip of next year. In keeping with the tradition of the past few years, it time to start talking Spring Roll Out Rally!! I have selected the dates of May 14th - 16th and am leading toward the Starved Rock area again. We had such a blast with all that Starved Rock has to offer in 2007, it's time to head back. Although this time, I am planning on taking a bit different approach. I believe that this time, it would be much easier for everyone to be able to make their own reservation if we stay at a private campground in the area. I am currently awaiting replies to information requests to a couple campgrounds in the area and will let everyone know where to make your reservation. Please post your reply's so I can get a good estimate on how many people will be attending.

Here are a couple of links to Starved Rock State Park --> Starved Rock State Park, Illinois DNR website for Starved Rock State Park

RESERVATION INFORMATION:
It's time to start making your reservation for the 2010 Spring Roll Out Rally. The rally will be May 14th - 16th located at Hickory Hollow (web site) in Utica Illinois. Until the middle of March, the office will only be open for reservations on Mondays. Please contact Sandy @ (815) 667-4996 and let her know you are part of the Outbackers.com group for that weekend. Judging by the responses that this thread has received so far, I asked her to set aside 6 sites for us. Those sites are in the K row and they are sites 2 - 7. When you make your reservation, please let me know so I can add you to my list.

Cancellation Policy: Hickory Hollow has a rather liberal cancellation policy. When you make your reservation, you will need to pay a deposit equal to one night. If you cancel 48 hours prior to the check in date, you will only lose $5.00. The campground has already filled the front half with a group of 20+ for one of the nights, so if you think that you may want to join us, but are not totally sure, you may want to make your reservation to hold your spot and know that you will be able to get most of your money back if you are unable to join.

Factory Rally In 2010

User is offline
tdvffjohn
- 07-15-09 13:31 - 24 comments

H2OSprayer reminded me that it was discussed to do another. If there is an interest for 2010, I will contact the factory. What I remember is that it needs to be in the first week or so of July because that is when they shut down for vacation. Obviously that time schedule will be the first thing discussed with Keystone if there is interest.

We will then form a small group to organize.

Also give me a little feedback about the campground used last year. There were not a lot of choices close by so if the place was good, we ll use them again.

Thanks
John

2010 Southeast Summer Rally
June 19 - 27
Anastasia State Park, Saint Augustine, Florida

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

For all of us history buffs, this is the oldest town in the United States.

You can start making reservations on July 19, 2009. Please make your reservations ASAP because the sites at Anastasia State Park go fast once the reservation window opens. We are trying to get everyone in the COQU loop so please make your request for your site in that loop. If or when that loop fills up just get any site available. Below is a link to the park and one to make reservations on ReserveAmerica. Hope to see everyone there.

Anastasia State Park, St. Augustine, FL

Reservation Link to ReserveAmerica

When you make your reservation please make a post and tell us which site you have and the dates you plan to attend. Thanks

This state park does not have sewer hookups only electric and water. We are working on trying to get a company to come in at mid-week to pump out our black tanks. There is a bath house in the middle of this loop also. Several people will be bringing blue tanks to empty gray tanks for themselves and others who do not have blue tanks so gray tanks will not be an issue. All sites are shaded very nicely to help keep the heat down if it is hot.

Confirmed Reservations:

2010 North East Summer Rally
Twin Grove, KOA
Pine Grove, PA
June 17-20, 2010

Posted Image

YOU MUST MENTION YOU ARE WITH OUTBACKERS.COM TO GET THE DISCOUNT.

UPDATE - Twin Grove KOA has extended holding the sites for our group until
April 15, 2010

If you have any questions regarding for this rally, please PM - Eric (Just Add Dirt), Rally Master.

The campground has been surveyed the campground; the area on the right side of the map labled Resort East Deluxe RV pull thru's http://www.twingrove...roundlayout.pdf ,
is NOT a very good area for our rally; it is a wide open field with no shade trees and no play area for the kids and is much further away from the ammenities than the rest of the camp.

We will receive a 15% group discount rate off the following regular site rates;

Pull thru's @ $44/nite, back-in site is $42/nite & sites next to the stream are $45/nite. All sites have W/S/E/C.

These rates, apply from Thurday June 17th to Sunday the 20th, 2010. The rates for the rest of the week will be at the 15% discount, however, if you decide to stay the whole week, you will get the weekly discounted rate and not the 15% discount.

We have 67 sites on hold under Outbackers.com and my name; Eric, all on the left or west side of the campground from the Lodge building, to the "North" arrow on the map. There are a few seasonal sites we cannot have and a couple that have already booked for next year, but right now we'll have about 90% of the premier, desired, sites.

This park is very nice and has a lot to do, and is close to a lot of attractions. There will be a live band in the pavilion that weekend and if you post a vote after you've reserved a site, under this thread, your preference of music; Country, Pop, or Oldies and dance., Missy will try to arrange that genre of music for us. Also there are two pavillions reserved for us, that seat 120 persons each, for this event. There are Horseshoes, Volleyball and a large playground right next to the pavillion as well as a kitchen cottage, that can be rented for $100 for the day with sinks, stoves and refridgerators, right in the middle of the pavillions. This will make for the best pot luck dinner ever. If that's the way the group wants to go.
A train/shuttle runs around the campground most of the day and they have a mini Carnival with a ferris wheel, a real nice indoor carrosel, a scrambler ride and a few others @ $1 a ride. theres a real cool Putt Putt, and a large pool with a slide and a pet play area where our furry campers can co-mingle. There is a beer wagon that circles the campground daily that delivers refreshment and ice after 4pm, and an indoor and an outdoor resturant with good food. Also ther are Segway rentals available. They also have target paintball for everyone>10 y/o. An aggility course for dogs too!! An ice cream parlor. Arts and Crafts for the everyone. A free Hayride all day long. A stocked lake 3 miles away and fishing in the stream in Swatera State Park: this campground is within the state park. An Arcade. And the list goes on and on....

This will certainly be a rally to remember!!

WEBSITE:
http://www.twingrove...dex.php?pr=Home

PS they wanted $90 for each pavillion but I negotiated with one of the owners to include 2 of the 3 pavillions @ N/C and am now working to get Sunday night for 1/2 price like DB did for us...more to come. ....ate diner at the resturant and the food was very good: They can cater our event if we want.

Anyone who would like to help with a group activity please post the idea here.

April 30th-May 2, 2010
Yakama Nation Resort RV Park

Confirmed the dates on July 10,2009 with Heidi

I blocked 12 sites just for the sake of blocking, the area is wide open so choose what you want! Blocked are sites 98-109. I reserved site 100, the same one I had last year.

I had requested the dome use for us for the weekend, it is just $50 for the weekend but I can't actually reserve it until the end of 2009 or beginning of 2010 so I will make myself a note. It shouldn't be a problem per Heidi. I'll remember to ask for the BBQ too cuz a certain Outbacker WILL make those mushrooms again! Right Jozway? thumbleft

Remember, it's an Indian Reservation and no alcohol. Well, what I mean is it isn't allowed but we had our cups, just don't display cans, bottles, etc. A rally with no alcohol? Like THAT'S gonna happen!

So will we have a theme?

Start reserving! Details will play out later as to what time for potluck

Well, Normally H20 sprayer starts this thread and I am hoping not to step on his toes, but We were looking at going to Galena on 5/21. I know we did Galena a couple of years ago and it is a little far for some of us. The reason we are looking at Galena is I have a new goal for next year. I am considering a Ironman 70.3 which is basically a half ironman. It consists of a 1.2 mile swim followed by a 56 mile bike and a 13.1 mile run. One of the races to help me prepare is at Galena that weekend. They are having a triatholon. It looks like it might be fun and a reason to get to galena that weekend. I remember visiting downtown and seeing some of the finishers and it looks like that race is in my future. If anyone has any other ideas for a spring roll out feel free, Just know that, that weekend we will be in Galena. Btw there are some fun things after the race for everyone to do including the kids.
