In Topic: Heading Out On Friday In New Sob

Upon our return from Beavers Bend, I shall write up some of my thoughts on the area. My Dad once worked in the area in the CCC program in the 30's, he loved the area. Robert

We had a great time at Beavers Bend! Campsites were pretty well taken (surprise) but they had 2 Texans who cancelled at the last minute, so we had really great sites adjacent to the Mountain Fork River. Everything with the trailer worked well, except for the black tank scrubber which just sat there when I connected the hose to it-back to the magic wand! Anyhow, lots of wildlife, fishing was superb, ate too much! They take campsite reservations if you are at least 2 weeks out. The restaurant in the park serves good food too! I would highly recommend this park as a destination for either a week or weekend! Robert

In Topic: Our Sam.....

18 September 2007 - 09:23 AM

This is indeed one of the most difficult transitions I've been through.....I've lost a Father, Brother, Aunts, Uncles, & friends, but to lose my Sammy is going to be tough!

We've been given the good fortune to live with Sam, our chocolate lab "aka, Wapato Double Mocha", since he was an 8 week old puppy and he's almost 13 years old now! He's survived the adoption of our Amanda, a boxer from the humane society (we lost her Christmas of 2005), several cats & kittens, the birth of our two boys, the adoption of our two boxer puppies last year, and numerous family crisis/events/joys!

Sam has been living with a whole lot of grace and dignity as he ages, especially over the past year, but this past weekend, his vet believes that he has a potentially malignant growth in his abdomen. We've done the basic lab work, some hormone and antibiotic treatment and will look toward the next checkup in a week, to see if anything improves.

SO! We sat down with the boys and laid out the "new" rules:

1) What Sam wants.....Sam gets!
2) What Sam wants.....Sam gets!
3) What Sam wants.....well, you get the picture ;)! We picked up a steak for him so he's lovin' life right now!

We'll keep you posted! and if you can, say a prayer for Sam!

Tricia, Best of luck with Sam, we have gone through that stuff before and it is not fun at all! Tell him to hang in there and continue to love him up! Robert

Surely someone in Outbackers.com is interested in a 23rs in great shape or knows someone who might be! I'm willing to negotiate to some extent.

I have a son in law who might be interested, I'll refer this to him for you. Good luck! Robert

Once an Outbacker always an Outbacker. Stick around and chime in often.

Thor

Well, I might as well confess myself. We are SOB'S too, bought a Mobile Scout after selling the 25rss. As you might recall, my original idea was to get a 28krs, but that fell to the wayside and we now have a nice trailer with gelcoat sides. My brother in law was a strong influence on this purchase, so you all can blame him. Your website is such a neat place to hang out! I hope that I too am still welcome to come here and post a bit and enjoy all you super people!
