My name is Gary. I'm a very recently retired emergency RN. Wife, Patty, and I have three grown and married children all living out west. We're in west Massachusetts. With five grandchildren running around it's very difficult for them to travel here. One week a year is not enough time for grandchildren to get to know their roots. It's become clear to us that, if we want to know them and them, us, well, it's up to us. So, bought a new Ford F-250, a 30' 2007 Keystone Kargaroo Outback - 28KRS. And, though total newbies to land cruising, intend to shove off May of 2016. We're not new to cruising as we've spent a couple of years cruising on our sailboats around Florida, the Keys, and the Bahamas. This is much different..... not a whole lot of traffic once you get away from the ICW and out on the open ocean! My purpose in joining this forum is first to attempt to educate myself in the science and art of overland cruising; second, to meet like minded land mariners; third, to offer up some of the things life's taught me to y'all.
A quote attributed to Helen Keller:
"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing."
