Recently had a problem with manual tongue jack. I was able to repair it by inserting a spacer to ensure the internal gears engaged properly. While on the subject I began to investigate electric tongue jacks thinking I might treat myself. A problem that seems apparent to me is that if I purchase an electric jack the control mechanism on top is so bulky that I won't be able to open the tailgate on my tow vehicle. I have about 1 7/8" clearance between my lowered tailgate and the top post/cylinder of the existing manual jack (just enough to let me get by the crank handle). The top of the existing post is 15" above the trailer frame mount. If an electric jack had a little higher top post that would help the cause too.
I guess I could get the shank on hitch head extended but not wild about going that route.
Any experience or suggestions?
Trailer is a 2006 21RS, tow vehicle is 2012 GMC 2500HD

If when your tailgate is let down and you barely have clearance, you should be able to loosen a few set screws and rotate the jack head 90 degrees. If i'm following you right.
