I found the hitch weight listed from 575lb on Lakeshore and other dealer sites. Also on a Outback brochure. The hitch weight is also listed at 725lb on Keystone main 280rs spec page, Holmans website and others. But on that page the total trailer weight is listed as 3597lb. So that cant be accurate. How can it be from 575lb to 725lb? Without battery and tanks?
One call to Keystone told me what is in the brochure is correct. I'm still waiting for sales to return my call. The weight is my decider between the 230rs and the roomier 280rs.
Anyone have a better ideas to what the tongue weight is? Thanks.

Go with what's on Keystone's site, 725lb. Dealer websites frequently have mistakes regarding specs, but I believe you stumbled across one on the Keystone site as well. The dry weight of the 280RS from 2011 was 6,595lb, so the 3,597lb for the 2012 model is obviously incorrect.

The website hitch weight won't include propane or batteries. The big variable on the 280RS, is what will be in the garage. Other than that, tank status (full or empty) also affects hitch weight. You should try to maintain 10 to 15% (ideally about 12%) tongue weight, to have the trailer tow nicely.

Lol, I just noticed that our 2012 301BQ has gained 800lb in the GVWR department. Our sticker says 8,200lb and according to Keystone's web site, it's now 9,000lb. What was once a puny 1,000lb cargo capacity has morphed into a respectable 1,800lb. Gilligan must be double-checking his numbers...

What are you pulling it with/that is the big question.

If you have enough truck go with the 28.

I have owned both 23 and 28.

If keystone made a 23 with a slide, I would sell my 28 and go back to the 23.

Is your 301BQ the model with the arched ceiling? I am guessing they added weight with the new ceiling and other slight changes.

Yep, ours is the new flavor with the vaulted ceiling and Transformer front cap. The yellow sticker on the trailer matched the website until a couple of weeks ago when the GVWR magically increased. The shipping and tongue weights remained the same. I wonder if I should take a magic marker and change our sticker?
