Just purchased 2008 outback and the handle for the black and grey tanks is very flimsy to the point i dont know if its closed or not. How do i fix this and how can i be sure the valve itself is working properly.

The newer ones are the same. Flimsy. i use extra caution pulling and pushing them straight as possible. You should be able to feel the valve open and close. Just be gentle

Just replaced the flimsy extension rod with a threaded rod purchased at Home Depot.

Simple enough Job, but I hated to cut into the Underbelly.
