The bunks were just too small to be useful for our family (2 adults, 2 adult children).
I purchased a folding bed frame on Amazon for a Queen. It comes in 2 folding sections, each 30” wide. (14” tall). I put a single frame next to the “deployed” bottom bunk, and brought the top bunk mattress down on the new frame. It’s at the perfect height to be a flat platform for a Queen air mattress (or full). The new width is 66”. The air mattress is a touch longer than the lower bunk length (80” vs 75”) but with compliance in the mattress it should be fine. A full size air mattress would fit the length perfectly (53” x 75”).
The end result is you have a Queen bed, but you have to carry an extra frame and inflatable mattress. The upper bunk provides storage for clothes, etc… Everything stows away when not in use.

I ended up with one 30” frame left over.

The older model 230 ??? and 280 came with a queen fold down bed in the garage I believe. Around 2010-2011 models. The 280's for sure.
